The AD-720 is the CD/DVD multimedia tagging solution in the HF media management portfolio from Avery Dennison. The AD-720 has a specially designed antenna structure designed to be overlaid over the hub of a CD/ DVD media disk. Ideal for library CD/DVD tagging, the AD-720 is ISO 15693 and ISO 18000-3 mode-1 compliant. The AD-720 operates at the International Science and Medical Radio Frequency of 13.56MHz. It is a battery free tag which utilizes the NXP SLI chip offering 896 bits of user memory to enable Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS), Application Family Identifier security functionality, Library check-on check out, inventory tracking and self checkout functionality.
The 36mm outside diameter antenna footprint was established to fit across a majority of CD/DVD formats while still providing the most possible reading range for applications requiring EAS functionality through a gating system.
Formats available for the AD-720 is available is; a dry inlay (PET layer with metal antenna and integrated circuit attached and over-laminated with a final PET layer for added environmental protection) and a pressure sensitive backed inlay design for integration into label conversion processes
Applications data: dBuA / meter translated to read range (in millimeters) showing the AD-720 performance in free space and on a CD/DVD media disk. The exhibit below shows typical HF tag values and the linear trend line to distance they demonstrate.
