The AD-902 durable tag uses a packaged NXP G2XL or optionally the G2XM integrated circuit. The packaged silicon offers durability in harsh environments and environments for long reliability due to the design of the highly reliable soldered antenna connection. Use of the NXP G2XM silicon provides optional added user memory of 512 bits. The product is designed for demanding applications where long read ranges are required such as reflective or absorptive surfaces. The AD-902 is a passive RFID rugged tag and provides excellent performance in demanding applications on RF-friendly, reflective, and absorptive contents where long read ranges are required. The RFID inlay is enclosed in an impact resistant material tuned for direct attach to metallic surfaces. Can be used in applications, such as:
- Logistics and Inventory Management
- Asset Tracking/Record Keeping
- Assembly Verification
- Anti-Theft/Security
- Product Recall/Return
- Anti-Counterfeit
Performance testing results are described below for an application in which the AD-902 is applied directly onto metal surfaces and compared to free space in an simulated warehouse shelf /pallet location system. The test was conducted to show relative performance depending on the geometric shape and size of the metal object tagged. Tag tuning by frequency range was also tested (FCC and EST UHF RFID bands)
In the FCC (US) band a 1 foot x 1 foot metal square was used in addition, a metal beam with 4 flat surfaces was used (typical warehouse shelving structural beam): (Negative Sensitivity values are better)
Conclusions drawn from the US Band testing data on the AD-902 performance:
- Direct contact to metal appears to peak at around 910MHz.
- Free space appears to peak at around 905MHz.
- Overall performance is acceptable for a direct metal warehouse shelf /pallet tracking application.
The AD-902 when tested using ETSI frequencies (865.6 to 867.6MHz) utilizing the same test set ups. For the European band we concluded the following:
- Direct contact to metal appears to peak at around 865MHz.
- Free space appears to peak at around 865MHz.
- Overall performance for the AD-902 in the ETSI band in the metal warehouse shelf / pallet tracking application is acceptable.
